Our Story...

Sarah sees ‘seekers’

The story behind ‘SEEKERS’ began with Sarah, a mum, who has always enjoyed walking with her young daughter Martha and her two bearded collies; Hamish and Logan.

To keep Martha engaged on walks, Sarah would often print out scavenger hunts from the internet. The sheets of paper would get wet and crumpled, and finding a suitable surface to write on could be a challenge. Eventually, and unsurprisingly, they would lose
their appeal.

So, whilst Martha always loved the concept of a scavenger hunt, the practicalities were often disappointing.

Sarah, being a graphic designer, envisaged a magnetic scavenger hunt board game and discovered that there was nothing like this available on the market. So, after a lot more walking, observing and imagining, she combined her creative flair with a business idea and ‘Seekers’ was born.

Enter Julia…

The other arm to the ‘Seekers’ business is myself, Sarah’s cousin Julia.
As a mother of two, and part-time teacher, I am also aware that kids love a scavenger hunt and have spent many hours creating them for my children; around the house, in the garden and in all manner of places.
I can also see significant educational scope for ‘Seekers’, and think that some of our ideas, moving forward, could provide opportunities for primary schools.

Our Ethos…

‘SEEKERS’ is launched alongside an ethos of getting children off their screens, out and about and simply looking around them at their surroundings. It is well accepted that children are too attracted to screen-based pastimes, and we see and feel the frustration of parents as they face the constant challenges that electronic tablets can bring with them. But, we think the tide is turning…

From an early age, we believe it is essential to engage children with their surroundings and make it fun to be outdoors; this will hopefully generate a life-long love for nature and the environment.

Our vision…

The ‘SEEKERS’ starter kit comprises a magnetic master board and a set of general outdoor magnets as a starting point.

But this is only the beginning…

We have created several ‘add-on’ magnet sets to offer the opportunity for scavenger hunts in a variety of environments including a car journey, park, seaside and supermarket.

And, there are many, many more to follow…
